Independent Research and Analysis
Although we work with a diverse client base, our investment philosophy centers on a core set of investment tenets that can be found in each and every portfolio: an open architecture approach to investing, wealth preservation and managing downside risk, the discipline to embrace a long term perspective, and the integration of asset allocation with tax and estate planning.
We believe investment success centers around a comprehensive approach to allocating assets between low-cost index positions, dividend growth equities, high-grade fixed income, and professionally managed funds with long term histories of consistent results. The strategies and solutions are selected specifically to address the objectives of each client and allocated tactically based upon current market conditions and individual client goals.
Asset allocation – the mix of different investments and styles in your portfolio – is a crucial component of any investing strategy. Of course, not all asset classes behave the same way. Equities and fixed income securities have different return and volatility profiles. Interest income, capital appreciation of stock, and dividends all receive their own distinct tax treatment. Likewise, not all accounts are taxed the same way. Some accounts are taxable, while others offer either tax-free or tax-deferred growth.
In order to build an appropriate portfolio, we continually work with you to discuss a long-term asset allocation for each particular account. As time goes on, there may be times when it makes sense to adjust that allocation in light of market conditions or changes in personal circumstances. We are committed to working with clients to develop a game plan that works both now and for years to come.
Retirement Plan Management & Advisory Services
We currently oversee a number of 401(k) and profit sharing plans with assets totaling over $150 million. Our advisory services include investment selection, monitoring and review of plan assets, as well as participant education. We have experience working with a wide array of plan sponsors, ranging from sole proprietors and small businesses to large corporations. Included in this group are a number of physicians, attorneys, engineers and other professionals.
Our Strategic Partners
As independent advisors, we have the ability to partner with different 401(k) plan providers. Industry leaders like Fidelity, Vanguard and First Mercantile help to provide our clients with open-architecture retirement plans and access to a wide variety of investment options. These providers offer knowledgeable, efficient and cost-effective recordkeeping and plan administration to trustees. They also help plan sponsors navigate the regulatory requirements of the plan as well as the day-to-day handling of participants’ requests. In addition, these companies offer convenient online access and investment tools to help participants plan for their retirement. The high level of service that these partners provide allows trustees, business owners and staff to focus on their business, not administration of their retirement plan.
